Porter Martone continues to make Flyers history in his early NHL career. The 19-year-old rookie (drafted 6th overall by the Flyers in 2025) signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Flyers on March 29, 2026, after a standout freshman season at Michigan State where he led the team with 25 goals and 50 points in 35 games.

Martone made his NHL Debut on March 31 against the Washington Capitals and has been a spark for the team ever since.
Key Achievements So Far
- Historic first NHL goal: On April 5, Martone scored the overtime winner against the Boston Bruins, giving the Flyers a 2-1 victory. He became the first player in Flyers franchise history to score his debut NHL goal in overtime (and the second-youngest in NHL history to do so at 19 years, 161 days old). nhl.com
- Strong start: Through his first seven NHL games (as of April 12, 2026), Martone has recorded 3 goals and 4 assists for 7 points. This places him with the second-most points by any Flyers player through their first seven games since the 2000-01 season. He also leads all NHL rookies in points since his debut.
- Multi-point games: He became the fifth Flyers rookie in the past 40 years to record multiple multi-point games within his first six NHL contests. His latest contributions (including a power-play goal and assist in a recent loss to Detroit) have helped keep the Flyers in the playoff hunt in the Metropolitan Division.

In the Flyers’ recent 7-1 rout of the Winnipeg Jets (April 11), Martone scored again (his third goal), with chemistry showing alongside veterans like Travis Konecny and Christian Dvorak. The team is pushing hard for a playoff spot, and Martone’s early impact—on both even-strength and power play—has been a big part of their late surge.
