Rumors are swirling as current NHL players make their way around the rumor mill and fans salivate at the prospective of bringing in new talent. Seth Jones in particular has been coming up often when it comes to trade rumors and the Flyers seem to be closely tied into it. This is music to the ears of those who have suffered in the Flyers’ recent mediocrity. While the team didn’t fall to the bottom of the league, they had such a dramatic drop in productivity that it does put a large sense of doubt in the direction of the team. Combine that with the plethora of assets within the organization and its only logical that the team take a chance a mix in some additional high-end talent. The unexpected is still to be expected, but no doubt the Flyers should be in the mix for the top names available. It’s a season of opportunity and the league is willing to change.
Its important to remember as the team rolls into the summer, that options will be a plenty and for chuck Fletcher to stand strong on trade values. It’s not worth damaging your team in the long term for a short term gain. Unless that player is worth an endless set of assets, the team cannot afford to overpay for a single player, as there might be more deals that need to be had over the next twenty months. The rock bottom for the Flyers was 14th place in the NHL this past season. That means the ceiling is higher than most people realize. If the right moves are made, then maybe Seth Jones can join this team and have plenty of support to make a cup run. Because as we call see, depth wins championships. Include the fact that his father, Ronald Jerome “Popeye” Jones, serves as an assistant coach for the Philadelphia 76ers of the NBA. This could make a long term extension even more tenable for the young talent.
On this episode of Gettin Gritty Wit It, I go solo and get deep on some of my own thoughts of the Flyers current position with trade assets, internal negotiations, and what is expected in the Stanley Cup finals.

Really love your podcast. I have mixed feelings about Patrick but the ceiling is potentially so high, it would be devastating to see him gone without a huge return and you are not getting that based off of his injury history and performance. Given his cost, it seems worth keeping him as a 3C and occasionally higher slotted winger. It would suck to watch him get healthy and figure it out somewhere else.
