After a big win against the Washington Caps, the Philadelphia Flyers have a top 10 winning percentage in the NHL. Even though there have been some bumps along the road, the team seems to building momentum in the right direction. With Kevin Hayes and Ryan Ellis practicing with the team again and looking to be entering the lineup in the next week there is a lot of positivity to build off. Claude Giroux is off to a tremendous start and it seems to be silencing the doubters who say his best years are behind him. On pace for 90-100 points this season, Giroux continues to show that he is one of the best players to dawn the orange and black. Sean Couturier has been right there with him as he slowly climbs up the NHL scoring charts and builds on his already prestigious career. Coots continues to prove that he is the backbone of the offense and that, not only does the team drive off his talent, but off his consistency at all facets of the game. Throw in an intense bounce-back resurgence of Travis Konecny and the team has a top line that continues to produce on nightly basis. If this continues, the rest of the squad should continue to settle in nicely.
On this week’s episode of Gettin Gritty Wit It, I welcome back, friend of the show, co-founder of Nasty Knuckles, owner of Settlemyre Skate Sharpening, Derek Settlemyre. Derek was the Philadelphia Flyers Equipment manager for over 25 years and now lives a life of YouTuber and business owner. He has maybe the most popular Flyers podcast as he and Riley Cote are the Joe Rogan Experience of the Flyers universe. With his deep knowledge of the game his relationship to the athletes, Derek is one of the best people for insight at the ground level of the game. He has more stories than anyone I met regarding the team and yet is humble enough to not overuse him. Check out this latest episode as we gush about the depth in the Flyers current lineup.
