E130 – Flyers Exceeding Expectations With 2 0 Start (Ft. Sam Wismer)
Well the Philadelphia Flyers continue to be an anomaly as the everyone is trying to put their fingers on what the real narrative is with this team. Throughout the past couple of seasons the Flyers have rarely put on a performance worth cheering about. Even in the games that they won, it always felt that it was a frail grasp over victory. The team had no real plan for winning a game, under former coach Alain Vigneault. They would over rely on their goaltender and hope that they would adjust as the game came to them. However, after the first two games of this early season, I doubt that many would argue that the team looked the same winning early on in the previous season. Even with countless players out of the lineup and key injuries that would have decimated the teams of the recent past, the Flyers have looked like a next man up type of hockey team. While the best players are the ones leading the way in these two victories, it would be hard to find a player in the lineup that had a bad game. There hasn’t been many times over the past few years where the Flyers had coaching edge. However, with John Tortorella here, it feels like that could be every game.
