Well it’s finally happened. The Philadelphia Flyers have hit rock bottom as they, hit a franchise record, 13 losses in a row. At this point everyone is looking for answers and are willing to burn everything down in the process. Flyers GM and acting President, Chuck Fletcher and Dave Scott, just had their big press conference to take ownership of the dire situation. With a slew of injury excuses and promises to fix the franchise, the pair did admit that they need to aggressively add talent. Clearly they were not expecting this type of season and said much. Vasili and I review the press conference and what our takeaway are from it.
With the white flag on the season waved, there are plenty of moves to get the team back into contention. The Flyers have several trade chips available in Claude Giroux, Martin Jones, Justin Braun, Rasmus Ristolainen, and other all available as traded chips moving forward. While things have hit rock bottom, it can be a great foundation to build on. With two very strong drafts in 2022 and 2023 the team can excel a retooling as they move on from older assets and pickup young pieces and cap space to turn the ship around. Vasili and I also go through our detailed plan into who we would trade and who we would keep from the the current Flyers organization. Make sure to check out this extra long episode as we roll our sleeves up and try to fix this mess.
