Boy oh boy are the Philadelphia Flyers in a frustrating situation. With a large swath of key players out of the lineup, the team has brought the entire city to level of frustration not seen in a long time. With all of the tension that has built up, it’s easy to forget the insane amount of talent and competency that is not included in the lineup. Not only is the team without top players Sean Couturier, Kevin Hayes, Ryan Ellis, Joel Farabee, and Derrick Brassard, but even additional graduates such as Tanner Laczynksi and Wade Allison have not been available all season long. For a team like the Flyers, who had depth, but not a solid ecosystem or young depth ready to play at the NHL level. The team has fallen short repeatedly.

With their recent loss to the St. Louis Blues, the team is on a six game losing streak that could easily spiral into double digits for the third time this season. Head coach, Mike York, has done an admirable job in his difficult position, but his future with the team still is unclear as the offseason surely has many changes ahead. The Flyers might still be losing, but they’re not losing, in the same uninspired way they were under, former head coach, Alain Vigneault. One can’t help but ask, what could Yeo do if his lineup wasn’t so depleted? The one thing I always say during such trying times is, don’t panic and always play the long game.
