E108 – Defining The Flyers Core & The Steps To Complete It
What a strange time to be a Flyers fan. Currently, it feels like a spiraling tornado of bad luck, underwhelming moves, and teasing signs of promise. Even the most positive of Flyers’ fans feel a pain that can’t be ignored. Interest overall in the team is at an all time low and the organization has not provided the fanbase roadmap of a better future. However, things are always more nuanced than they seem and even if the message isn’t being communicated properly, the thoughts should be are there proper building blocks in place to turn the organization’s fate around?
Going through the recent transactions of signing Ivan Fedotov, Linus Sandin, Adam Ginning, and Nick Seeler it’s hard to gauge anything from these decisions, as all but Ivan Fedotov, do not have much impact on sparking interest in the team. Big time coaches have been brought up late with Barry Trotz, John Tortorella, Paul Maurice, Rick Tocchet, Jim Montgomery, and more have all been speculated as options for the team moving forward, but again none of that has matriculated into much as the playoffs dictate some of those options. However, there isn’t even much confidence that the Flyers are capable of bringing in Barry Trotz, a top 3 Coach in the league, to turn the story around. There doesn’t seem to be much confidence that the Flyers can really do much to get themselves out of the bottom of the league and that most players won’t find redemption.
On this episode of Getting Gritty With It Yariv and Vasili break down recent news, upcoming draft options, and who is part of the Flyers core, and playoff predictions.

The Flyers mgt (Scott/Scooter, Fletch, Clarke…) sound like politicians. Clarke blaming Hextall for the problems is like Biden throwing all the blame on Putin for the gas price LOL! Scooter supporting fletch was funny as hell, I didn’t get the idea scooter meant “he’s my guy”. Lastly, “aggressive retool” is the term they’re using to NOT say rebuild. It’s like when I politician says what they’re going to do with ZERO explanation how.
