The Philadelphia Flyers did themselves no service on Monday, August 24th, and played the worst first period of the 2020 playoffs. In a game where the Flyers needed to come out and show they’re the same team that finished in first place, they fell short of that with a lackluster opening bout. The Flyers lost the game early and never really recovered offensively even though the team showed life after the 1st period. This wasn’t an easy game to swallow and most Flyers fans have lost a lot of confidence in the team’s ability to dominate games. Whatever has the Flyers playing like a different team has yet to pass over. However, game two is around the corner and it won’t be any easier. Can the Flyers wake themselves out of mediocrity and rise back to their confident swagger?
On this most recent episode of the Gettin Gritty Wit It podcast, Yariv has guests Anth Merrigan and Joe Borek to talk about what went wrong during game one. A deep dive of who didn’t show up, who played well, and what changes we can expect is the key focus of the episode. Additionally, they also go into the entire NHL playoffs matchups and the recent Kapanen trade. Do the Flyers still have a chance to lift Lord Stanley’s Cup?
