The Philadelphia Flyers are officially in a downward spiral and even while positivity can still be found in the future, the current situation is enough to make any fan lose hope. It feels like the season is already over in so many ways. Coach Alain Vigneault feels like a different person at this point as the entire organization has entered the bizarro world. A team with an immense amount of depth at all positions no seems like they can’t find anyone to play consistent hockey. Finger pointing has begun in the media and players like Shayne Gostisbehere was waived for the first time in his career.

At this point the Flyers find themselves out of a playoff spot and wondering, what went wrong and why so fast? No matter what group of players you look at, you could argue that they have lost confidence. Outside a few veterans who have been able to be consistent for majority fo the season, are still not able to right the ship. Ultimately this team doesn’t feel the same since COVID-19 distrusted the world and Philadelphia’s Stanley Cup dreams.

On this episode of Getting Gritty Wit It, I welcome back guest Anth Merrigan on the show to talk about the Flyers’ current two game win streak and how it doesn’t feel stable. After a 6-1 loss to the Sabers, our fears came to fruition. While it is still not a good time to panic, it might be a good time to start strategizing for a trade or preparing for the following season. It’s not clear what Chuck Fletcher will do in the future, but we doubt anyone saw this coming.
