After a very unconventional season, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms have a new coach and a new core list of players looking to make an impact. The Philadelphia Flyers have been revamped and reloaded with skilled veterans, so the young players on the brink of making the NHL will have to play a significant role in the AHL to prove their NHL readiness. This is usually a marker of a Stanley Cup contending team.
The Phantoms have a plethora of talented young players who could make an NHL impact as soon as this upcoming season. Forwards Morgan Frost, Tyson Foerster, Zayde Wisdom, Issac Ratcliffe, German Rubtsov, Wade Allison, Tanner Laczynski, Connor Bunnaman, and more are all waiting in the wings to get their chance to make the Flyers and some will go the distance during camp. Defenseman Cam York, Igor Zamula, Wyatt Wylie, and others have all earned critical experience in which they will take into the season and be prepared for a late call up as injuries will come up. They are going to be the first ones waiting to get to fill the void. The goalie trio of Felix Sandstrom, Samuel Errson, and Kirill Ustimenko, all have the skills to be NHL players, but the three of them have to prove they can be relied upon if the NHL position comes calling.
On this episode of Getting Gritty Wit It, I welcome new guest, Bob Rotruck, to the show to talk about the Phantoms current roster and coaching staff hirings and how it will come into play with the Flyers upcoming season. Bob is the voice of the Phantoms on the 365 Radio and AHL.tv and has 12 years of experience in broadcasting for the minor league affiliate. If anyone has seen the young talent come through the organization, it’s Bob Rortruck.
