Oskar Lindblom has had his fair share of ups and downs, and it appears things are starting to click for him after registering 100 points for his career. The difference between now and a few months ago, well he’s playing with confidence and now it’s paying a big dividends for his new club in the San Jose Sharks, “I didn’t know they had a video for me, so it was good,” Lindblom said on the tribute video the Flyers played for him during the game. “Like I said, emotional and the passion they have and the love they show for me is incredible.”
Lindblom means so much to the City of Philadelphia, regardless of where he plays. The love he has for this city cannot be taught, rather it it is well received throughout the city and abroad. He is one of the most caring individuals, even with all his trials and tribulations he just cares about the next person, “Just trying to tell them that they mean so much to me and my time here,” Lindblom said on why he tapped his heart to the proud faithful. “I just want to show my love to them. Nothing more than that.”
Lindblom has looked a little more like his self with board battling, and battling for pucks in general these past few months. Even though, plays for the San Jose Sharks he is still followed by many Flyers fans. He will always be loved in Philadelphia, “It was good,” Lindblom said of his game. “Like I said, the first period wasn’t my best, but after that, I felt pretty good and won the game. That is the most important part.”
James Reimer, who hasn’t been Lindblom’s teammate felt the love the fans gave Lindblom yesterday, “He has played here for five years and technically only been gone for a month,” Reimer said. “You are hoping that they give a good reception and they did. A guy like him with a great attitude and personality, the way he approaches life. He takes the game seriously, his job seriously and treats everyone with respect. You hope that people realize that and stand with him. Really special moment. As a goalie, you are pretty locked in and try not to pay attention, but you take a couple seconds to be part of the moment with him. He has gone through a lot and gone through the other side.”
The 26-year-old in Lindblom has struggled with consistency, but he’s starting to find his groove with the Sharks. He could still be a valuable player at this stage of his career. His skating has improved from the beginning of the season, while his heart has remained the same. Lindblom just wants to win, and be able to help his teammates win the game at hand. He remains effective in puck management, and taking hits to make the play, or extending the play. This critical aspect of the game cannot be understated, as he has registered three assist in seven games played.
