What an amazing turn of events for a Swedish sensation in Oskar Lindblom. After recently completing cancer treatments, who would have thought that Oskar would be amongst the 31 players to Toronto when teams travel to their Hub Cities on Sunday.
Flyers General Manager Chuck Fletcher said the hope is for Oskar Lindblom to be amongst the 31 players to Toronto. He is hoping Lindblom could train, and maybe even play, but wouldn’t rule anything out. What an amazing turn of events, and unbelievable stuff for Lindblom. Congratulations to Lindblom, his family, his friends, and teammates.
Fletcher on Lindblom, “The second part of your question, we’re hopeful that Oskar will be one of our 31 players that we bring into the bubble in Toronto. We’ve been working towards that. We’ll see how our next few days go. That’s certainly our goal.” Moreover, Fletcher on Lindblom playing in Toronto, “Absolutely. I don’t know what’s out of the question. I wouldn’t certainly put any limits on Oskar. We’ll obviously do everything that we can to protect him. He’s looking forward to restarting his life and his career. Whatever that means, we’ll find out. We’ll work very closely with his medical team and our medical team. We’ll make the right decisions for him. Sure, I mean why not. He’s been cleared by his oncologist, by the medical team that worked with him and by our medical team to start resuming activities, to train and to skate. He’s getting stronger all the time. Certainly at the right time, he’s not skating now because obviously we are giving him a little bit more time. At the right time, he absolutely will be able to participate with our group.”
Lindblom brightens everyone’s day, as Alain Vigneault loves the kid. The young man in Lindblom paid a visit to the Flyers in practice back in January. He gives them a sense of hope, and is a ray of sunshine. What an emotional boost this would be for the Flyers playoff chances oh, they could really make an extended playoff run.
“I am very excited to be a part of the Flyers for the next three seasons,” Lindblom said in the Flyers press release after signing his new contract, “The support that the organization, the fans, and the entire NHL has given me has been quite overwhelming. I can’t wait to get back skating with the boys and being the professional hockey player I know I can be. I want to thank the Flyers for giving me this opportunity and I look forward to the day I’m back and contributing to the team’s success.”
Athletes are human too. Lindblom is always happy, upbeat, and in good spirits daily. It’s tough for a team to lose that type of upbeat personality in the locker room. Whatever the case maybe, Lindblom its always great to see you back home, and on the ice with the boys. Everyone remain #OskarStrong. We are in this fight together with Lindblom. That bell being rung, was the most beautiful noise I have heard, Now the new chapter begins.
