Oskar Lindblom has had his fair share of ups and downs, more ups than downs as he beat Cancer, “I did my scans again yesterday and they came back good,” Oskar Lindblom said following a game in March. “So still cleared from cancer. It’s a great feeling to know that and hopefully keep it the same and be cancer free for the rest of my life.”

Lindblom looked a little more like his self as the season wore on with board battling, and battling for pucks in general. A slow start was to be expected, “That schedule didn’t help,” Lindblom said at exit interviews. “I felt like the recovery part was a big part that I was struggling with. I felt better, but I still feel I have a lot more to give. And I actually feel great to get back to work this summer. I’m so excited for that because I know what I can do out there. And when I’m in good shape, I know I can play good in this league. It’s been a tough year both, like you said, physically and mentally. It’s gonna be nice to recover here and get back in shape.”

The 24-year-old in Lindblom tallied a big goal against the New York Islanders on March 22, 2021, as he is tried to develop some consistency. Lindblom only had eight goals and six assists in 50 games played, but he provides heart and he wants the team to get back on track, “I mean, it’s unbelievable,” Lindblom said at exit interviews. “I didn’t know what to expect, if I ever could play again from the start and to play on the highest level in the world. And I still managed to do that. It’s making me proud just to think about it. I feel great about myself. And like I said earlier, I know I got some work to do every summer, but still I’m proud of myself that I was able to play this year.”

Of course, he will get bigger and stronger. His skating improved from the beginning of the season, while his heart has remained the same. He just wants to win, and be able to help his teammates win the game at hand. Lindblom remained effective in puck management, and taking hits to make the play, or extending the play. This critical aspect of his game cannot be understated, as he fed off the fans:

“They’re unbelievable especially here when we have a full house to give you so much energy. It’s way more fun to play when we have a full house too. I can’t wait to get back and play for the fans again. Give it back to them from this year when they missed part of it.  It’s gonna be great to see them again. Hopefully we can play better next year and give them something to cheer for.” – Oskar Lindblom on the fans

He has developed a great friendship with Robert Hägg and Hägg’s girlfriend Klara. It’s good to have someone on the team he can talk to, “He’s been there, even before everything happened with my sickness and all that,” Lindblom said. “Since I got here my first time, he’s been always been there for me and helped me a lot with stuff you don’t think about outside the rink. Helped me get around and all that. He’s been a big part of the start of my career here. I can’t thank him enough for what he’s done for me. As well his girlfriend, Klara, has been there a lot for me too. They’re great persons and the unbelievable friends for me.”

Hägg says, “It’s awesome after everything that happened last year and he’s coming back for the playoffs and all that. To have him here for a full season and he’s playing, it’s unbelievable. It’s unbelievable to have him back in the in the dressing room and just be around him. It’s been a pleasure.”

Lindblom has earned our patience in more ways than one. He will get back to the player he once was, Lindblom just needs our support in doing such.
