The Flyers selected right-handed defenseman in Ethan Samson in the sixth round (174th overall) of the 2021 NHL Draft. We were fortunate enough to have a one-on-one interview with him following the draft this past Saturday.

How was the draft for you? How was the experience of getting your name called by the Flyers like?

It was super exciting for sure something I have dreamed of hearing for a long time.

How were your talks with the Flyers? Did you know they would pick you or did you just kinda hope to see your name get called?

No I actually had never talked to the flyers before this so it was quite the surprise to see my name get called on the TV.

What teams did you talk to?

I talked to about a dozen teams not too many from out east though.

What are some things you wanna tell Flyers fans about your game? How would you say your past season went with Prince George?

I think I’m a two way defensemen. I can take care of my own end and bring my offensive side the the table on the pp and i think that’s something I did a lot this season in Prince George.

Is there anything you wanna work on this off-season?

Yes I want to work on my skating for sure being a bigger guy i have pretty efficient skating but I want to be able to get to my top speed faster.
