One of the Flyers top prospects in Cam York from the University of Michigan begins his quest for a National Championship today. York told me a few months ago:

“I want to win a national championship. Individual statistics don’t really matter to me I just want a ring.”-Cam York

York has been working out hard in the weight room in anticipation for the start of the season. He is ready to play in all facets of the game, to include the top Power Play Unit, as this most likely will be his last year in the NCAA. York will most likely sign an Entry-Level-Contract with the Flyers at season’s end, so this will be York’s last shot at a championship with his most talented team to do such.

The 12th ranked Michigan Wolverines will take on a 15th ranked Arizona State squad this weekend (3pm Saturday/7pm Sunday). York will be relied upon to transition well from defense to offense, thus leading the rush up the ice, as well as, use his elite gap control skills to stifle his opponents. He has grown into a leader of this young Wolverine club, after a shortened freshman campaign due to Covid-19. Check out Michigan’s full schedule here.

York is a good skater, but doesn’t have the fastest speed. He also has good acceleration in both directions. His outstanding edge work, agility, and pivots really set him apart from other Flyers prospects, and other prospects of in the NCAA for that matter. York is one of the top Flyers prospects in the system, and a lot of that has to do with him being a smart hockey player who has a very good hockey IQ.

There really is no reason for me to believe why he couldn’t become a middle pairing Defenceman in the NHL. To me he has the billing to eventually pair with Ivan Provorov if the Flyers needed him to do such. York possesses a heavy shot, and can get pucks through the point. Stay with us for updates on York and other Flyers prospects.
