As Flyers Rookie Camp opened, so did a flurry of pressure for some rookies. Some more than others, for instance, Tyson Foerster, Emil Andrae, Elliot Desnoyers, and Adam Ginning. None looked out of place by any means, however, one player that did not have nearly as much pressure to succeed was a camp invite (Technically) Brendan Furry.

Furry signed a two-year contract with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms on April 6, 2023. He previously served as a team Captain in 2022-23 for Minnesota State University. Furry signed the two-year AHL with the Phantoms at the conclusion of the NCAA season.

Over the course of Furry’s three-year career with Minnesota State, Furry appeared finished with 27 goals and 58 assists in 111 games played. Look for him to try and make an impression to the Flyers top brass that he deserves a shot in this league.

The 25-year-old in Furry hails from Toledo, Ohio. Furry previously played for the Omaha Lancers and Tri-City Storm of the USHL for two seasons from 2017-19 accumulating 97 points (38G,59A). He knows he has to have a good camp, and that he cannot get comfortable. Look for Furry to impress if he gets a shot during the two rookie games this weekend.

Anything can happen in this league. Furry has a lot of skill. His bread and butter are toe drags after faking a wrist. Furry hits the net nine times out of ten. Hopefully, he continues to excel when given the opportunity to do so. Pay attention to Furry at camp Flyers fans, he can really impress.
