When thinking of the Flyers overall makeup of their team, some people think of some household names like Cam Atkinson, Sean Couturier, Carter Hart, and Travis Konecny all for good reasons. One name that doesn’t come to some peoples’ minds is Scott Laughton. Laughton gave the “A”office sweater last night in a classy move, and gave it to Cam Atkinson who was returning to his former home in Columbus.
“Laughts is a phenomenal pro,” Flyers’ Interim Head Coach Mike Yeo said following the game last night. Laughton did not have to do that, but he understands how important this game was to Atkinson:
“It was a special night. I asked each guy to dig a little deeper. I want to thank my teammates and the coaching staff.” – Cam Atkinson
Laughton has been working his tail off consistently throughout the entire season. He’s like the energizer bunny, Laughton never takes a shift off. He hits, creates some scoring opportunities, and just busts his butt every single shift. Laughton is one of those players that every team covets, mainly because of his versatility to play any position, and move up and down the lineup if need be.
The well, versatile Laughton, does everything the coaching staff asks of him, and does it well. Yeo wants him to play Wing no problem, he wants him to play Center no problem. Laughton can play in the top nine or top six, as well, like he is currently doing.
Yeo is right, Laughton is a true professional. On one special night Laughton shines even more, that made his teammate shine even more on his special night. Talk about class, that’s how leaders lead.
