Oliver Bonk, a top Flyers’ prospect and defenseman, had a scheduled maintenance day today (September 12, 2025) and will not participate in tonight’s rookie game against the New York Rangers prospects, per Lehigh Valley Phantoms first year coach John Snowden.
Bonk is expected to return for tomorrow’s game (September 13, 2025). This appears to be precautionary, as Bonk has a history of minor injuries but has been progressing well in camp.
Alex Bump
Alex Bump, Flyers’ promising forward prospect, has indeed put on 10 pounds over the summer leading into the 2025-26 season, “I put on 10 pounds. Don’t think pressure is needed. But I mean, I’m prepared for it I don’t really think there should be pressure, just I’m prepared for it,” Bump said today.
This physical development is part of his ongoing preparation to transition to professional hockey, building on his strong frame (now listed around 6’2 and approximately 204 pounds, up from earlier reports of 194 pounds. As a 21-year-old left winger drafted in the fifth round (133rd overall) in 2022, Bump impressed in his sophomore NCAA season at Western Michigan University, tallying 23 goals and 47 points while helping lead the Broncos to their first national championship.
Bump signed a three-year entry-level contract in April 2025 and joined the AHL’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms for a brief stint last season, where he posted three goals and two assists in nine games. At Rookie Camp, which began on September 11, 2025, Bump has been skating on an intriguing top line with Jack Nesbitt and Samu Tuomaala, showcasing his scoring ability and physical presence. Flyers assistant GM Brent Flahr has praised his improvements, noting that Bump is “Coming to camp to make the team” and could push for an NHL roster spot out of main training camp next week.
