Matt Miller, 24, is a 6’3 Right Winger from Leo, Indiana. He signed a PTO with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms for the remainder of the season this past week, and he also signed in AHL contract with the Phantoms for the 2024-25 season. Miller completed his collegiate career at the University of Nebraska-Omaha where he was an Alternate Captain for two seasons. The Winger isn’t the flashiest player, nor the fastest skater, but he managed to score seven goals and 13 assists this past season for 20 points in 37 games played.
Ironically enough, the Leo native becomes the first product of the University of Nebraska-Omaha to play for the Phantoms. Miller provides experience, leadership, and perseverance to the Phantoms lineup. He quickly bolsters the leadership avenue for the club, and maybe that’s the missing element for this young Phantoms team as they head towards the playoffs.
Miller played in his first professional game as a member of the Phantoms last night, and they won 3-2 in overtime. It was a pretty good night for the young Leo native, as he netted his first professional point and goal. He becomes a valuable force along the wall, as he leads the team up the ice. Miller doesn’t lose many Puck battles, nor the puck often, and this is a valuable asset for the Phantoms when they are trying to dominate and take over games.
The skies the limit for Miller. Maybe he impresses the Flyers top brass enough during the playoffs, and eventually in Training Camp to offer a look with the big club next season. In the end this is a win-win contract for the Phantoms and hopefully the Flyers in the future.
