New Flyers’ General Manager Danny Briere was smirking and laughing throughout the early morning pre-draft presser to answer questions about Training Camp and what to expect. I previously loved his reference of Eric Lindros early at his draft press conference, and that really set the tone for the rest of that presser, “We want that 6’6 Centerman that hits everything on the ice and scores (Laughing),” said Briere. What a reference for Eric Lindros, he was so darn good, it a darn shame injuries sort of derailed just how even much better he could have been over the course of his NHL career.

Without further delay, here are our notes to Danny Briere’s pre-training camp presser.
- Sean Couturier and Cam Atkinson are healthy and a go for training camp, per Danny Briere. This is awesome news Flyers fans. For once, all potential roster players players are healthy. This does not include recent injuries to J.R. Avon or Matteo Mann.
- Danny Briere praised the following rookies for their great work throughout camp, and the weekend rookie series: Zayde Wisdom, Samu Tuomaala, Alex Ciernik, Denver Barkey, Oliver Bonk, Emil Andrae, Adam Ginning, Helge Grans. It’s great to see Helge Grans get mentioned. In my opinion he did not have the best developmental camp, so it’s good he tried to improve.
- The Flyers are not “Tanking”. I repeat the Flyers will not tank, per Danny Briere. The Flyers are looking to win, and develop players.
- Danny Briere believes in the prospects (Kids he referred to them as), but he has to be cautious in the same token. He maintains status quo, he does not want to place them in positions to fail, and he made this clear again today.
- Danny Briere speaks very highly of John Tortorella. He likes working with him, and believes they are on the same page.
