Flyers’ General Manager Chuck Fletcher wanted more veteran leadership, and more guidance for the youth this upcoming season. He endured an offseason filled with many changes, and ultimately revitalized or refaced the Flyers organization. He spoke to the media about the overall landscape at training camp today, and here are some of the notable notes from that press conference:

  1. Fletcher says Scott Laughton, not Claude Giroux will move to Center now that Morgan Frost was sent down
  2. Fletcher indicates that Morgan Frost was sent back due to timing offensively. He did say that he appreciated Frost’s attention to detail defensively.
  3. Fletcher was very stern when he said Frost would be back. Fletcher appeared confident saying that
  4. Fletcher indicates that it was more than the coaches that sent Frost back. He said he was involved too, and said he would benefit to build his confidence
  5. Allison’s injury timeline is still unknown, but at this time he will not require surgery
  6. Fletcher insists that he does not Morgan Frost to go back and forth from Lehigh to the Flyers. He said play and injuries will be a factor. For now, JvR, Laughton, Farabee is a line.
  7. Chuck Fletcher calls the Robin Lehner situation unfair to AV. In actuality, it actually was. It caused confusion, an apology would be nice to AV.
  8. Fletcher: “I had a bad year. Our coaches didn’t have their best year. Our players didn’t have a good year.” “Yandle..a beauty.”

Hopefully, the Flyers can get some injured bodies back shortly, especially Kevin Hayes. The depth at the Center position is now being tested throughout the organization, so let’s hope everyone can stay healthy following their final pre-season tilt tomorrow night.
