New Flyers’ General Manager Danny Briere was smirking and laughing throughout the mid morning presser to answer questions about the upcoming season and what to expect. I previously loved his reference of Eric Lindros early at his draft press conference, and that really set the tone for the rest of that presser, “We want that 6’6 Centerman that hits everything on the ice and scores (Laughing),” said Briere. What a reference for Eric Lindros, he was so darn good, it a darn shame injuries sort of derailed just how even much better he could have been over the course of his NHL career.

Without further delay, here are our notes to Danny Briere’s pre-training camp presser:
- Danny Briere on Rasmus Ristolainen: “We are still hopeful it’s nothing serious and he is allowed to play Thursday, but we don’t know for sure.”
- Danny Briere said that both Bobby Brink and Tyson Foerster earned their spots. He said they will evaluate and make sure both get ice time.
- Danny Briere: “Early on, especially the opener. It’s the respectful thing to treat the veterans right. Then as time goes on, their play will dictate who plays.”
- Danny Briere says that Travis Sanheim is one vet that stood out to him at camp: “I was really impressed with his fitness and mindset. I feel like he’s got something to prove.”
- Danny Briere coined the fourth line and he was impressed with them: “I was really impressed with our PHD line, and I thought Poehling and Hathaway brought something to the table.” He also said that Egor Zamula was another player that looked good, a long with Sean Walker.
- Danny Briere on Travis Sanheim and the trade rumors from this past Summer: “I was honest with him. Our job as an organization is to do the right thing and listen. At the same time we are excited for the future. We signed him to a long-term contract because we believe in him. I challenged him and he responded (Danny said happily).”
