Chuck Fletcher wanted to re-sign Sean Couturier before the season began, as he did not want a contract lingering over Couturier’s head to be a distraction in the locker room. After re-signing Couturier, Chuck Fletcher held a meeting with the press shortly thereafter. Here are the notes from the presser:

  1. Chuck Fletcher a class act, starts off the press conference offering condolences to Kevin Hayes and his family.

  5. Chuck Fletcher said conversations with Derick Brassard started a few days prior to his signing
  6. Chuck Fletcher says the Flyers will sometimes have 20 players on the roster, sometimes 21.
  7. Chuck Fletcher said he has texted Kevin Hayes. He said they are here for the Hayes family, and he will support him anyway he can. He did mention we will see him here shortly
  8. Fletcher: “Couturier is a rare talent.”
  9. Chuck Fletcher said he has had good conversations with Claude Giroux and his agent Pat Brisson, but he will start the season without an extension.
  10. Fletcher says Couturier got a contract he richly deserves
