Flyers’ General Manager Chuck Fletcher, Assistant General Manager Brent Flahr, and the other top brass throughout the Flyers organization have a big offseason. This is one of the biggest offseason’s in recent memory for the orange and black. One year after winning a playoff round and falling short of the Eastern Conference Finals. The Flyers of course missed the playoffs this past season.
It is unacceptable to miss the playoffs, there is far too much talent on this roster to miss the playoffs entirely. With that being said, Fletcher and Flahr spoke to the media today for a pre-draft press conference. Here are the notes from the presser:
- Flahr on Cam York: “His skillset is very good.”
- Fletcher said he wants to make the playoffs next year, and that “Last year was unnacceptable.”
- Fletcher has made some personnel moves to the front office positions, and they will be announced SHORTLY.
- Fletcher said he is not about trading good young players, especially those that struggled last year. He says they have to stay the course with the youth and find a way to make them better “Especially after last year.”
- Fletcher says he is willing to move the 13th pick. He said it’s an asset, and Brent Flahr wants to keep the pick he said jokingly.
- You can sense Chuck Fletcher is a bit nervous. He’s moving his hands a lot. I think he sense the pressure, and shares the fans pain.
- Fletcher says each GM is trying to get a feel, but it appears they are waiting for the expansion draft, and that changes things.
- Fletcher reiterates there will be new additions to the club, and “That we are looking to get better.”
- Fletcher says no player has been informed that will be exposed.
- Fletcher says the Flyers aren’t expecting to make a trade tomorrow, unless something comes up.
- Chuck Fletcher says he has been busy on the phone with trade talks, specifically “Phones are busy.”
- Fletcher says that this expansion is cut and dry, and will be “Straight forward.”
- Fletcher says the was more time to prepare for this expansion draft, than in 2017 with Vegas
- Flahr said they will take the best player available at pick 13, to include a goaltender like Wallstedt for instance.
- Fletcher pretty much says that the RFA’s will get done, no rush.
- The Flyers could very well draft Cossa or Wallstedt if the 13th pick isn’t traded, as Flahr said they will take the best player available at pick 13, to include a goaltender.
- Trainers and strength coaches are here. They have been and will continue to be, per Fletcher. He said players know what’s expected of them this offseason.
- Fletcher says Ghost and Provorov are here, but Provorov just went back to Russia.
After this presser, again I will reiterate I do not believe the Flyers will use the 13th pick, rather it will be used in a trade. Ryan Ellis seems to be a solid target from the Nashville Predators.
Fletcher said the top RFA’s for the Flyers are Hart, Patrick, and Sanheim LMFAO.
Hart I could see even though his struggles were mighty, but Patrick and Sanheim have been total and complete busts to this point.
LMFAO How does this idiot still have a job? No wonder the Wild fired him rofl.
