New Lehigh Valley Phantoms Head Coach Ian Laperrière and Flyers President and General Manager Chuck Fletcher spoke today to the media. Here are some notes of today’s press conference:
- Lappy says players have to be in shape or he will get them in shape. He said he’s a big believer in fitness.
- Lappy gives a shout-out to Craig Berube “The Chief”
- Lappy says he hasn’t talked to Terry Murray. He said he’s looking for younger guys.
- Lappy: “My goal is to make these kids better.”
- Lappy gives a massive shout-out to Paul Holmgren. Says thanks for giving a chance.
- Lappy: “Maybe 1-3 guys can make the Flyers next year.”
- Lappy: “The young guys need a leader that will direct them.”
- Fletcher: “We had multiple talks with Felix Sandström. He’s looking for number one ice time minutes. You cannot guarantee ice time. We will retain his rights.”
- Fletcher says they are considering bringing back Alex Lyon.
- Fletcher indicates a few more weeks before they announce an assistant.
- Fletcher says Lappy knows the system and brings positive energy.
