Yesterday Chuck Fletcher made another move. This time it was strictly a salary dump as Shayne Gostisbehere was traded to the Arizona Coyotes along with a 2022 second round pick and 2022 7th round pick.

Following the trade Flyers’ General Manager Chuck Fletcher talked to the media. He said various things, for instance, that he has been trying to trade Ghost for some time. Moreover, there was a team that wanted Cam York along with Ghost, and yet another team that wanted a first round pick attached with Ghost. Here is the rest of what Chuck Fletcher had to say:

  1. Following the Ghost trade the Flyers have exactly $13.885 million in cap space with Hart and Sanheim yet to re-sign. Per Cap Friendly
  2. “I do expect to have a better team by the end of next Wednesday and that’s exciting. We have a lot of work to do.”- Chuck Fletcher
  3. Fletcher is definitely interested in another right-handed defenseman.
  4. Fletcher said a team wanted Cam York to take Ghost
  5. Fletcher says adding Ellis was a high priority. He also said that they will be adding another piece or two
  6. Fletcher says he’s still open to moving the 13th pick for a player to help them.
  7. Fletcher believes Cam York or Egor Zamula can fill a spot, “In a tough cap world ELC’s are important.”
  8. Fletcher says again cap space is tough and everyone is being careful
  9. Fletcher said the Flyers are “Better” position cap wise. He said they will not be chasing or trying to outbid teams.
  10. Fletcher said he didn’t have enough space left to do what they needed to do (Before the Ghost trade)
  11. Chuck Fletcher was “A bit” surprised no team really offered much for Ghost

The name of the game right now is cap space. They needed more room to add a few more pieces. Fletcher mentioned Goaltending as a priority, another defenseman was a priority, and he did mention if they had enough room he would like to add up front. Whatever the case may be buckle up for the next six days.

  1. I will miss the Ghost, especially the one we had 4 years ago. But this had to be done and people who are cramping on Fletcher for what he gave to dump the salary don’t understand the current market for assets in the nhl.

  2. Fletcher is a totally brain dead GM. Who and what will he “give away” next!
