Noah Cates has expressed excitement and satisfaction with his new four-year, $16 million contract extension with the Flyers, that he signed on June 3, 2025, “I think it’s great term, some prime years for me. Super exciting,” Noah Cates said.

The deal, carrying a $4 million average annual value (AAV), provides him with job security and a significant raise from his previous $2.625 million AAV contract. Cates highlighted the appeal of the contract’s term, noting it gives him a “runway” to contribute to the Flyers’ rebuild while staying with a team he values, “I believed in myself. I know what I am as player, it turned out to be the best thing for me,” Cates said yesterday.

He also mentioned during a media availability that while free agency in 2026 was an option, the security and opportunity to play for Philadelphia over the next four years were going to be exciting and great for him. Cates also mentioned that he talked “Briefly” with new Head Coach Rick Tocchet, just getting to know each other a bit. He calls Tocchet an energetic guy.

Many view Cates’s new deal, as fair for both Cates and the Flyers. The contract is seen as a win-win, rewarding Cates’ two-way play and versatility while given the orange and black’s cost certainty for a key Center at a reasonable cap hit. It was an easy deal for a player that wants to be a Flyer.
