As Philadelphian’s awake today. The Phillies are up 2-1 in the world series, and your Philadelphia Flyers are 5-2-2 somehow. Let’s be honest here it’s because of Carter Hart, nothing more, nothing less.

There is nothing anyone can say, Hart appears to be the heartbeat of this young Flyers team, and that was made evident yet again against the New York Rangers last night in a 1-0 overtime loss. He flat out stole them a point, there is nothing anyone can say about that.
Hart finished the game with 35 saves on 36 shots face, which was good enough for a .972 Save Percentage. Yes at times the defensive zone coverages were good for the Flyers, and of course that helps He. But at other times not so much. Hart has been excellent with his rebound control, and that limits chances for the opposition.
Unfortunately, the Flyers continue to get pelted, allowing 30 or more shots on a nightly basis. This could become a recipe for disaster as the season wears on, so hopefully John Tortorella and his staff could do something about this in the future.
“This be a little bit of who we are, as we get back on the right track. We have some guys, that it’s a little rich for them they’re gaining experience. But, maybe we get healthy we become a better team.” – John Tortorella
When a goaltender like Hart is playing so well, it makes the opposition feel like they have to have the perfect goal or shot. That was evident last night against the Rangers, and they hit four or five posts for that matter. It appeared at times they were looking for the perfect shot and that’s what happens when a goaltender is in your head. This help the Flyers, obviously, and Travis Konecny had a glaring wide open net in the first period, but Charles Lindgren save the day for the Rangers with a save with his skate.
Last night was a goaltending duel, and Igor Shesterkin outlasted Hart. Both goalies played very well last night, and both teams were in it because of their netminders. There’s not much analysis as to why the Flyers hold a 5-2-2 record. The only thing that remains consistent is Hart, the Hart effect. He continues to play at a top level, and it’s great to see.
