Background on the Players
- Jett Luchanko (19, C, #17): Flyers’ 2024 first-round pick (13th overall). He impressed in limited NHL time last season and training camp but was a healthy scratch for the Oct. 9 opener vs. Florida. Expect him on the fourth line with veteran protection from Hathaway to ease his transition.
- Nikita Grebenkin (21, LW/RW, #29): Acquired from Toronto in the 2025 trade deadline deal for a package including Ryan Strome. He shone in preseason (strong showings vs. Boston and New Jersey) and was also a healthy scratch in Game 1. This is his chance to build on AHL success (28 points in 50 games last year with Toronto Marlies/Lehigh Valley Phantoms).

The Flyers (0-1-0) are looking to bounce back after a 3-2 loss to Florida, and coach Rick Tocchet emphasized giving the young guys ice time post-loss.
