Nic Deslauriers (often called “Nic”) was recently traded by the Flyers to the Carolina Hurricanes. The trade occurred on March 6, 2026, just ahead of the NHL trade deadline. The return to the Flyers was a conditional 7th-round draft pick (likely in 2027, based on multiple reports).

This move comes in the final year of Deslauriers’ 4-year contract (signed in 2022 with an AAV of $1.75 million), as the veteran enforcer and physical forward sought more playing time or a fresh opportunity. He had limited ice time in Philly this season (1 assist in 23 games recently noted) but is known for his toughness, having played over 700 NHL games career-wide.Deslauriers has a history of trades:

  • Traded to Buffalo from Los Angeles in 2014.
  • To Montreal from Buffalo in 2017.
  • To Anaheim from Montreal in 2019.
  • To Minnesota from Anaheim in 2022 (for a 2023 3rd-round pick).
  • Signed as a free agent with Philadelphia in 2022.

Waiver Claim

The Flyers put in a waiver claim for Luke Glendening. He’s a 36-year-old Center that played for the New Jersey Devils.

I think this was in case Carl Grundstrom was traded.
