Nic Deslauriers us a bruising, fighting winger that Chuck Fletcher added this past offseason to give the Flyers some extra bite. Mamy articles have been written on this subject, so we do not need to delve anymore on the subject, but what Deslauriers also brings is a fun style of hockey in the locker room.

He makes players feel like they are at home. Deslauriers is inviting, and apparently will share his experiences of the sport in a fun way that gives life to the locker room. He had the team over for dinner before training camp began, Deslauriers just wanted to show that he was one of the guys.

Deslauriers and his family have now settled in Mt. Laurel, NJ. He joked, “I needed a lot of land.” He has quickly bonded with Nick Seeler. Both players are no strangers to fighting as they have fought two each other twice throughout their careers together.

Does Deslauriers bring a ton of offense, NO. Is he a playmaker, NO. But what he brings his passion and heart for the game of hockey. He works, and that was made evident on the first day of Training Camp.

Nick Seeler and Deslauriers have quickly formed a bond, are very close with each other. Makes sense, both of them used to play for the Minnesota Wild, and it’s not everyday you get called ugly in a good way from your coach, “We were probably two repetitions into the skate and I went down to Shawsy and I said, ‘S—, Shawsy, I’m not sure what’s going to happen here with Nic,” Tortorella said “I was serious, and I watched that guy and he was ugly as hell, but he got through it. He never stopped. He finished to where he was supposed to finish.”

This kind of hard-working attitude is not taught, it is something that is instilled into you. Deslauriers us quickly winning over the locker room, and Coach Tortorella with this type of unselfish attitude.

1 thought on “Nic Deslauriers is quickly becoming one of the guys, and a fan favorite of the Flyers locker room “He was ugly as hell”

  1. No fan who understands hockey wanted this guy, it’s a terrible pickup in a team full of bad pickups. I do not see him as a fan favorite unless you are one of the 5 fans stuck in 1970
