The Flyers lone representative at the All-Star game will be no other than a chirpy Travis Konecny himself. Konecny deserves this nomination, so let’s hope the NHL mic’s him up. Remember the last time he was mic’d up during a major NHL event!!! He called Evgeni Malkin a “f…in nerd,” at the outdoor game last season against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
“Chuck called me, a lot of thoughts were going through my mind as to why he would be calling me on our day off,” Travis Konecny said laughing on how he found out he made the All-Star game.
Konecny does a little bit of everything, and he does it well. He will chip in on the power play, lay a big hit, block shots, and most of all do anything to help the team win. Konecny is on pace to shatter his career high in points of 49 that he set last season. Moreover, this young stud is on pace to record 64-67 points, and pot 27-30 goals this season. Simply put, Konecny is doing it all, as he has more than earned his new contract this season.
His stats show he’s lethal, but it’s intriguing to know that Konecny will play on either wing, which really shows his versatility. Konecny has filthy hands, and has learned to play a really smart game. He wanted to shake the rust off after a coaching change, and also with a new General Manager…and boy did he ever do it. Konecny found a new attitude, and it has appeared to rub off on his teammates, “With all the names on our team I didn’t expect them to pick me,” Konecny said.
Konecny is becoming a rising star in Philadelphia. His heart and soul has won over the proud orange-clad fans of Philadelphia, and the new coaching staff. It’s great to see just how hard this young man works on a nightly basis, as he is one of the most unselfish players on the ice. He shall return tonight with some pep in his step. Remember Flyers fans, the future is bright in Flyer land.
