Second Period
No goals in the period, a power play opportunity for each club but no success. Reading outshot Maine 13-12 in the period, but outshot for the game at this point 31-27.
Third Period
Zayde Wisdom found twine early in the period, his second in as many games to knot things up at 1:35. Max Newton gave Reading the lead with his second of the post-season at the 9:24 mark. Tim Doherty knotted things up with his top-shelf overtime-forcing goal, late in regulation at 17:54.
Overtime
After 13 minutes of back-and-forth hockey, Max Newton took a delay-of-game penalty off the faceoff at the 13:55 mark of the extra frame. Maine took full advantage of the incidental minor, Alex Olivier Voyer found twine for his second goal of the post-season off the feed from Tim Doherty at 14:52.
James Henry spoke with the media before the morning skate ahead of game 3
“…Zayde has stepped up for our group, there was a big moment later in the game where he had a big shot block, and that got a big rise out of the bench. It shows that he’s a very competitive player and I think people kind of, I don’t want to say forget, but people kind of push off to the side that he’s only 20 years old and he’s got a lot of hockey in front of him and he’s getting better every day…”
