Yesterday, the Flyers made big moves on their end of the spectrum, with trading Joel Farabee and Morgan Frost for Andrei Kuzmenko and Jakob Pelletier.

My initial trade thoughts are the Flyers got an underwhelming return. They received two players in Jakob Pelletier and Andrei Kuzmenko that needed a change of scenery, or quite possibly are reclamation projects. Kuzmenko is a former 30+ goal scorer, while Pelletier has untapped potential in the NHL.
It appears to be a cap dump for the Flyers, while something bigger maybe on the horizon, possibly at the trade deadline or in the offseason. The Flyers acquired two players, one that is a Unrestricted Free Agent at the end of the season (Andrei Kuzmenko) and a Restricted Free Agent at the end of the season (Jakob Pelletier).
The Flyers rid themselves of a long-term contract in Joel Farabee for two short-term contracts. Farabee was signed for $5 million a season, until he would become a free agent at the conclusion of the 2027-28 season.

The Flyers now have seven picks within the first two rounds of the 2025 NHL Draft. Flyers’ General Manager Danny Briere added to his stockpile following yesterday’s trade. He has the ammo to make one heck of a deal for a Center, in the future.
This turned out to be a good trade for the Flyers. They now have the flexibility to make multiple moves to better this team. It appears that Joel Farabee and Morgan Frost were not long-term solutions in Philadelphia, thus being traded away for a few assets to use at the trade deadline or become reclamation projects.

These are the two draft picks were got for Braden Schenn. I’d take Schenn all day long.
