The Flyers will be taking their game outdoors this season, as they will play at MetLife Stadium on February 17, 2024 against the New Jersey Devils, “We are thrilled to see the Flyers get the opportunity to participate in the 2024 NHL Stadium Series at MetLife Stadium next February,” Keith Jones, President of Hockey Operations said. “This truly will be a unique event to have four division rivalry teams that will bring their respective longtime histories and fan bases to one venue. After covering these premier NHL outdoor events for the last 13 years as a TV analyst, I am looking forward to soaking in Feb. 17 as a member of the Flyers Hockey Operations staff and seeing the team take on the Devils.”

“I’m thrilled that the Flyers have been chosen to participate in this special event, and I’m excited to join thousands of other Flyers fans who will be driving up the New Jersey Turnpike to represent the Orange and Black with pride at MetLife Stadium next year,” Dan Hilferty Chairman Governor of the Flyers said yesterday, “Outdoor games are a great way for our fans to come together to not only cheer on our team, but take part in a unique, memorable experience, as well.”

Unfortunately, the Flyers haven’t had much success outdoors. They are 1-3-1 in five games played outdoors, to include a recent 7-3 beat down by the Boston Bruins at Lake Tahoe in February 21, 2021, in which David Pastrnak netted a hat trick.

Flyers season ticket will have first dibs on tickets, and they will have first access to a pre-sale ticket opportunity for the 2024 Stadium Series event at a later date. The Flyers are the road team for this game, so this will not be part of the ticket plans. In addition, the Flyers say the best way for fans to gain pre-sale access for the 2024 Stadium Series is to join the Flyers Inside Edge program. Either way this should be a fun one, as the Rangers/Isles play the next day.

New Lehigh Valley Phantoms Assistant

With Riley Armstrong recently taking a promotion within the Flyers organization, this now leaves a vacancy for an Assistant Coach with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. One name to be on the lookout for us former Flyer Eric Wellwood.

Wellwood is highly regarded within the Flyers organization, and he was around the Flyers top brass at times last season while being a Head Coach of the Newfoundland Growlers in the ECHL. He comes with coaching experience, and Wellwood would be a name of interest to replace Armstrong.
