One day after Jett Luchanko received, yet again, praise from Flyers’ Head Coach coach John Tortorella. There was yet another indication that he would be on the Flyers opening night roster, for a nine-game tryout at the very least. Yesterday, Luchanko was practicing with the NHL group, and these or how the lines were formed:
Michkov-Couturier-Konecny
Tippett-Frost-Foerster
Farabee-Luchanko-Brink
Laughton-Poehling-Hathaway
It sure doesn’t appear that Luchanko will be sent back to the Guelph Storm anytime soon. This is yet another indication that he will remain with the big club, and make the opening night roster. Everything the coaching staff is saying, coupled with the NHL lines. It’s just making it quite obvious that he will not be cut.
Tortorella continued to praise Luchanko, “I think ine guy that had stood out with pace and one that hasn’t been affected too much is Luchanko. Maybe that’s the youth, but he’s hung in there pretty well,” Tortorella said.
It’s apparent that the orange and black can use speed within the lineup, especially down the middle. They need a center that has hockey, smarts and a hockey IQ like a young Sean Couturier. These are some of the tangibles Luchanko brings to the lineup.

“I’m sure that’s why he was appealing to teams early in the draft,” said Flyers Associate Coach Darryl Williams and it is pregame presser yesterday. “Very Smart, reads the play, and has adjusted very well to the NHL speed. You can see he’s a thinker and really understands the game. He’s athletic and has had a good camp.”
The coaching staff continues to praise Luchanko, thus making this another indication that he will not be One of the final cuts, before NHL rosters have to be submitted by Monday. Luchanko is earning this moment, and whether you agree or disagree with him staying on the roster. One has to admit that he has earned this.
