Flyers fans caught their first glimpse of Matvei Michkov today during the first session of Rookie Camp, and my gosh did he put on a show. He surely didn’t disappoint. Michkov’s skating was crisp, his hands were sick, and he also did a nice little oke check to Jett Luchanko for a goal. He is by far, the cream of this crop of rookies and if anyone wondered that on day one, think again.

Michkov will also be playing in the first game rookie series game tomorrow (Friday). He is actually speedy, as I have documented before. Michkov’s edge cuts were seen all over the Flyers Training Center ice today. One could also tell the work he has put in this summer, as he came to camp in great shape.

Matvei looked great today with Jett Luchanko. The pair just looked in sync, and made the tough stuff look easy. Luchanko knew where Matvei was, and Matvei knew where he was. It looked as if the pair played with each other before.

Speaking of Luchanko, he was sporting #17 today. Apparently, he has changed his number from #43. If I’m a betting man, the pair will be featured on a line tomorrow. Luchanko also has a good pair of hands, and it’s about time the Flyers have two creative players that attract the opposition to them. This opens the ice up for other players to create and make plays.

This and That

Denver Barkey did not practice today, and that means more than likely he will not play tomorrow. This could be due to the illness he previously had during the London Knights Training Camp,.

As stated above, Jett C hanko now wears #17, which was previously worn by former Flyers Jeff Carter and Wayne Simmonds.
