Matvei Michkov has experienced some ups and down in his Sophomore season, now he is experiencing discomfort in his foot today after blocking a shot off his foot during the game against the Edmonton Oilers, per Flyers’ Head Coach Rick Tocchet.
“I think he took a shot off his foot. We didn’t know about it till today, so he’s getting it checked out,” Tocchet said following practice.

Michkov was showing signs of improvement after a slower start to the 2025-26 season. Earlier in the season (around October 2025), Michkov dealt with an offseason ankle injury that limited his training and contributed to conditioning issues and reduced ice time. Head Coach Rick Tocchet, confirmed he was healthy but “behind the eight-ball” in preparation.

In November 2025, Michkov was involved in a collision that injured Toronto’s Chris Tanev (who was stretchered off), but Michkov himself was fine—it was just a penalty on the play. Recent reports (including one from today) highlight that his game is trending positively, with better decision-making and emerging offense, though he’s had some struggles with points and ice time this year (around 22 points in ~39 games). No injury reports list him as out or hurt right now, and Flyers injury updates focus on other players like Tyson Foerster.
