Matvei Michkov was fined $2,000 by the NHL for diving/embellishment.

The fine was announced today (April 7, 2026) as supplementary discipline under NHL Rule 64 (Diving/Embellishment). It stems from an incident on March 24, 2026, during a Flyers game against the Columbus Blue Jackets (vs. Dante Fabbro).
This was Michkov’s second embellishment citation of the 2025-26 season. His first warning came on December 3, 2025, against the Buffalo Sabres. The $2,000 fine is the standard amount for a second offense.

The fine is separate from his earlier $2,473.96 fine (maximum under the CBA) in December 2024 for high-sticking Quinton Byfield of the Kings—that was not related to embellishment. The call has drawn some fan discussion and memes (including from accounts that track NHL dives), but it’s a relatively minor supplementary discipline with no suspension. Michkov has been a dynamic rookie for the Flyers, though embellishment calls have occasionally been part of the conversation around his play.
