Well, Well Flyers fans. The wait is finally over. Matvei Michkov has made a positive impact, and it’s only game three of his brief NHL career. What a night it was for the orange and black, as Michkov potted his first NHL goal.
Fans were treated to a fun-filled night of seeing his skating abilities and stick handling abilities, especially in the greasy areas to score a goal. He doesn’t shy away from physicality, rather he braces it. That’s exactly how he scored his first NHL goal.
Tine after time, Michkov was in board battles along the boards and Michkov came away with the puck. These are the little things that Torts loves. For his efforts, Michkov is now tied for fourth in the league for rookies in points with three (2g,1a). Michkov is also tied for second in goals with two. He’s killing it, a star is born

Michkov appears to communicate well with his peers. He made some nice plays to Morgan Frost, and Frost was the beneficiary of two assists. Of course, Michkov also made some dandy moves, as he always does. He appeared to get stronger and more confident in the first period of play.
One major tidbit of learning about Michkov is how competitive he is. He hates to lose, he just wants to win. Michkov lives and breathes the sport of hockey, that’s it.
Lastly, Michkov appeared to have formed good chemistry with Joel Farabee and Morgan Frost. Frost appears to be embracing the rookie, as Michkov makes something happen from nothing, “Yea it’s exciting,” Frost said of Michkov scoring his first NHL goal. “He’s been talking about it. All he says is I score, I score, I score, so it’s nice to get him one and hopefully the floodgates open now.”
Your explanation really clarified things for me—thanks!
