Matvei Michkov continues to razzle and dazzle, and continues to impress the Flyers, top brass and fans alike. Alike. He is now officially a point per game player in his rookie season in the NHL
Michkov has an impressive resume, and he just turned 20-years-old:
Tied for second in the NHL in scoring by a rookie with 44 points
Tied for first in the NHL in goals by a rookie with 13
Has 32 points in 44 games played (13g,19a)
Has scored three overtime winners in just 44 games
Ten multi point games
1 Three point game
Witb that being said, how have things gone for him, with adapting to North America:
“Slowly adapting to the lifestyle,” Michkov said yesterday following practice, via translator. “Everyday is better. Hope it will be coming easier.”
Michkov continues, “It’s the first season, there are moments where it’s very hard. Trying to get ready for every single game.”
Learning how to play the right way in the NHL is a different animal. It’s unlike anything he’s done before, but he is learning rather quickly, “There’s no full downs, sometimes you cannot score goals,” he said. “Most important, keep the team winning, everything else is irrelevant.”
