Lou Nolan will be honored tonight by the Philadelphia Flyers for 50 years of service as a Public Address Announcer. What a career, what a legend, what a nice guy Lou is,”He’s a great guy, best in the league,” Scott Laughton says of Lou Nolan. “He always makes people feel welcome. Always asks how my family is doing. Just a down to Earth guy.”

Laughton continues, “It’s going to be a great night celebrating a great human being.”

Five years ago following a game, I was entering the flyer of locker room for post game press conferences, and that was the first time I met Lou Nolan. “I know Who you are,” he said to me. From there every time I saw Lou again I would always say to him “I know who you are (Laughing).”

Lou is a class act, and tonight is a well deserved one, “I can’t tell you what this means to me, it’s fantastic,” Lou said at his press conference this morning. “Simon Gagne it was one of the names I liked (To say).”

Nolan doesn’t forget about announcing Jaromir Jágr’s name, but a great accomplishment he brought up was about none other than Gene Hart and the legacy he has left the Flyers with. Nolan said that people have learned a lot from Gene Hart, not just about life, but the sport of hockey.

He thanked Flyers season ticket holders, and Nolan said he wouldn’t be here today if it weren’t for them. Nolan just a genuine guy, a class act, and it’s awesome the Flyers will honor him tonight at the game.
