Quick Note: Both goaltenders made their pro-debut in this game. For Reading, Matt Vernon go the call, and for Trois-Riviéres, William Lavaliére. The Lions record going in when leading after 2 was 19-1.

First Period

Cole Gallant kicked things off with his 1st of the season, sniping the puck past Vernon on the power play at 6:56. Shane Sellar knotted things up with his 17th of the season on the power play at 11:20. Matthew Barron put the Lions back on top with his 8th of the season at 16:14.

Second Period

Cedric Montminy was the only goal scorer of the period and last of the game putting the Lions up 3-1, with his 19th of the year at 8:46. Shots for the period were 13-10 in favor of Trois-Riviéres.

Third Period

No goals in this period, but several power play chances for each club but no goals. Shots for the period were 7-6 in favor of the Lions.

I think there was just too much waiting around. We were a little too slow on the forecheck. We weren’t able to create enough pressure, to create turnovers. The early penalties to start the game, allow them to get a 5-on-3 basically their first shot of the game that’s gonna be difficult for any goaltender to shut down. Especially one that’s facing his first pro hockey game. As the game went on we didn’t get enough from our top players to be honest. Kind of a situation where a little bit streaky with our performance and our effort and hopefully better for tomorrow.
