The Flyers took on the Washington Capitals today in a game where Sean Couturier made his return, and Carter Hart was back between the pipes. Let’s get into it.

Ovi being Ovi

What more can I say, Alexander Ovechkin shows no sign of slowing down at age 35-years-old. He’s always the most dangerous player on the ice and he proved that today. Scoring two goals to up his total for five on year. *Ovechkin missed time due to Covid protocols. An unbelievable talent he is and is someone the Flyers will always have to keep an eye on.

JvR stays hot

James van Reimsdyk is off to the hottest start in his career. He nets another goal today on a great shot, which forced the starting goalie out of the game. JvR has clearly become the teams best player and shows no sign of losing that responsibility. He continues to get better and better each game. Long time Flyers fan Mikey “franchise” Pharo says this about JvR and his play, “JvR is on pace to have his 5th straight 40+ pt year. I think people under value him. The last two seasons he’s put up 40+ pts with only playing 66 games each year. With a full season he could be a 50-60 point player.” JvR is off to a highly impressive start to what could be a career year in a short season. What a start for the local kid from New Jersey.

Laughton with a Hatty

Scott Laughton had a great game while netting his first career hat trick. After a quiet start to the season. Laughton really turned it around today and had a great game. The depth of the team is starting to show with getting Coots back who nets two goals, JvR continuing his outstanding play, and Laughton jumping in the mix. An all around great game for Laughton to get on the score sheet with a Hat trick.

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it
