This Flyers season has been a tough one, in particular for the proud faithful of the orange and black. Last night doesn’t get much better, as it was a Rangers takeover at the Wells Fargo Center.
John Tortorella has been great with responses this season, and he provided another great quote last night:
“We make our own bed. We need to get this the right direction where maybe someday those tickets are hard to come by. Don’t blame anybody else, blame us.” – John Tortorella
Flyers fans are not accustomed to this in Philly, as Philly fans in general are used to taking over other teams stadiums. Tortorella is right, they have created this monstrosity. Like Tortorella said in the beginning of the season “Winning” cures this. Fans are now using their monies on the Philadelphia 76ers or buying Phillies tickets, as opposed to buying seats to a hockey game that is sort of meaningless at this point.

“This is what we’ve made here,” John Tortorella said. “Hopefully along the way we get this turned around. I’m not sure when but get it back to where that’s a tough ticket, and maybe the Ranger fans just aren’t allowed in the building because we have filled it with our people. Not there yet obviously. I’m not blaming the fans; I’m not blaming anybody else except us in the organization. We make our own bed here, and where we’re at. It’s up to us to get out of it.”
This may only get worse as the season wears on, but John Tortorella continues to give his honesty. He is absolutely right, the organization has made their own “Bed”. Philadelphian’s just want to see hard-work, and dedication. Hopefully the Flyers can start winning again, so this takeover stuff ends sooner rather than later.
