Key Notes to Dave Scott and Chuck Fletcher’s Presser with the Flyers’ media

Dave Scott and Chuck Fletcher held a State of the Flyers press conference today. Here are some tidbits from the conference:

Dave Scott: “Our fans are angry. We are sick of losing.”
Dave Scott: “We had high hopes. Chuck Fletcher put together a good roster, and it didn’t pan out. Injuries , it’s not an excuse, but it’s the truth. I get the injury report everyday.”
Dave Scott to the fans: “I’m sorry. This isn’t anything anyone deserves.”
Before the presser begins with Fletcher he commends Keith Yandle and calls it “A great accomplishment.”
Fletcher says he has a great relationship with G.
Fletcher says Ellis and Couturier are working, but he does say they can possibly miss the rest of the season. They are trying to avoid surgery, but it’s possible. He mentioned next season is more important in terms of getting 100% healthy.
Fletcher says that the Flyers need more top-end talent, “We do need more top-end talent.”
Fletcher says the easiest way to get top-end talent is through the draft, and he does not believe the Flyers have to bottom out (Fully rebuild)
Dave Scott: “I do not believe this is a 3-4-5 year rebuild. 2 or 3 pieces would be great. The core is good, we just have to get healthy.”
Dave Scott: “I’m looking at the front office, coaching staff, players.” No one is safe is what he is saying.
Fletcher mentioned that these next 8 weeks will show from the young guys if there is top-end talent in-house.
Fletcher says he drafted Cam York because they needed another puck moving defenseman, and he mentioned him quarterbacking the power play.
Dave Scott: “We have to continue to communicate with our fans.”
Fletcher said he will look into the medical staff too, and everyone is on the table at this point, “We will certainly look into it (Too many reoccurences of injuries).”
Fletcher on Danny Briere: “We had a lot of good conversations with Danny. He’s been involved in player development. Moving forward he will have a bigger role with hockey ops, and he has been sitting in every big meeting we have had for a few years.”
Fletcher says the Flyers don’t have enough shooters, and that’s why they drafted Tyson Foerster and acquired Cam Atkinson, “We have tried to add talent, and we are trying to find talent.”
Fletcher mentions Konecny and Farabee as good young players.

“Again a lot of key players out of the lineup, other players not playing up to their capabilities. We have been decimated up front, and struggling to score goals.” – Chuck Fletcher on why this season has gone South
