Sometimes athletes are heroes, and ones that common people look up to. It was Hockey Fights Cancer Awareness at the Wells Fargo Center last night, and Kevin Hayes had some words about the night in his pre-game availability with the media yesterday:

“Cancer is a horrible disease,” Kevin Hayes said. “It’s a nice gesture of the league to do nights like tonight. It makes you realize our problems aren’t as big as theirs. You’re an ass if you think your problems are more important than theirs. Both of my parents had it.”

Most people take or have taken something in life for granted at one time or another. Life is valuable, and we as people should not forget that. There is always someone else than you are in this World, and sometimes we as people forget that.

AJ Grande was a huge Flyers fan, and managed to have a Zoom call with John Tortorella a few months ago. Travis Sanheim had the pleasure of sporting a #11 jersey last night in Grande’s honor as he passed away from Cancer right before the season started.

Travis Sanheim had some kind words for AJ Grande’s family last night, “It was a privilege to wear it. Obviously with TK being 11, he was supposed to wear it, but when he wasn’t able to, they asked me. It was a pretty quick yes for me to wear that jersey. It was nice to wear it and nice to meet his family as well.”

Regardless of how things are shaping up with the Flyers right now. They are class acts with how they handled last night, and most those special for one night. Cancer sucks, I hope all get better soon.
