Both the Flyers and Keith Yandle made history on the same night, ironically enough. The Flyers made history for the wrong reasons, while Yandle surpassed Doug Jarvis’s record of consecutive games played with 965. It’s an iron Man streak that is really impressive, especially with the challenges that players throughout the league have had to endure with Covid Protocol’s and what not. Yandle is the new Iron Man of the NHL, it’s official.
The Flyers, unfortunately, lost their 13th straight game, which is now a franchise record for the longest losing streak in Flyers history. It’s absolutely embarrassing that this team also endured a 10 game losing streak earlier in the season, which eventually led to the dismissal of former Head Coach Alain Vigneault, “If you would have told me if we scored three goals tonight before the game, we would of earned a point at least,” Mike Yeo said following the game,
“We didn’t have much in the second period, and they saw blood.” – Mike Yeo
Here is another stat for Flyers fans. Last night the New York Islanders lead after the second period, unfortunately the Flyers are 1-19-3 on the season when this transpires. However, the early deficit did not derail the Flyers, and that has been a common theme for the past few games. Unfortunately, the Flyers are having trouble scoring goals or pulling even in the third period with teams that they’re actually playing better than (Asides from the Buffalo Sabres).
Following the game against the Dallas Stars on Monday night, Ivan Provorov said they had to score more than two goals to win a game, well they did against the Islanders and they still lost. The problem is is that the Flyers have not played a full 60 minutes in sometime, as the Islanders outplayed the Flyers in the second period.
I know the Flyers are on the back leg of a back-to-back, however, how many times are we going to say well this is why the Flyers lost, while pointing or honing in on one period of play.
Keith Yandle
“I remember Ray Whitney said to me when I was young, as long as there’s an NHL symbol on your jersey, that means you’re having a good day,” Yandle said following practice on Sunday. “I haven’t taken that for granted.”
Yandle is from Milton, MA, and is good friends with Kevin Hayes. He has also played under former Head Coach Alain Vigneault. The writing was on the wall for Yandle to not only fit in right away, but break the iron man record held by Doug Jarvis with 964 consecutive games played, a record that has stood since 1987, until January 25, 2022.
The 35-year-old in Yandle had lots of family in attendance last night, to include is dad, mom, wife, kids, and finally his brother and sister.
“It was special. To see all the support…it meant the world to me. I’m very grateful.”

Time to move the charity case Yandle. He is so bad.
