The Flyers traded Joel Farabee and Morgan Frost to the Calgary Flames for Andrei Kuzmenko, and Jakob Pelletier. Pelletier played for the Moncton Wildcats before getting drafted into the NHL. So just who is Pelletier?
For starters, Pelletier will become an Restricted Free Agent at year’s end (RFA). He’s a versatile forward, and one that can play both Wing and Center.
Pelletier can be utilized on both the penalty kill and power play. He always tries to create offense and space for his teammates.
Believe it or not, Pelletier skates well, sees the ice well, and possesess excellent passing skills. Flyers’ Head Coach John Tortorella will like that he’s a responsible player defensively.
A young 23-year-old in Pelletier is ready to make an impact on his new team. Pelletier wants to become the player the Flames thought they were getting when they drafted him. He has four goals and seven assists on the season in 24 games played.
“We will see with Pelletier, maybe he provides a spark, spunk,” Flyers’ General Manager Danny Briere says if Pelletier.
Unfortunately, Pelletier lacks size in a major way, so like most prospects he needs to add more muscle stronger in order to maximize his effectiveness. Also, he needs to be a bit more confident shooting the puck, in an effort to keep defenses honest.
