The Flyers hired a former Stanley Cup winning Head Coach John Tortorella to a four year deal, worth $16 million. Some forget he won a Cup with the Tampa Bay Lightning back in the 2003-04 season. Tortorella is known to be a hard-nosed coach, who commands the most from his players. He is not afraid of benching or calling out star studded players either.
One thing is certain he has given the media some amazing quotes. Today Morgan Frost was the subject of a quote that, well, should pump up Morgan Frost:
“He’s up and down like a toilet seat.” – John Tortorella on Morgan Frost
Now, when I say this should pump up Frost, hopefully this will help him become more consistent. The talent is there, unfortunately, he remains inconsistent. One game he is noticeable, the next not so much. Frost needs to play the game with more urgency, and start to cash in on some golden opportunities.
Everyone should embrace Tortorella, my gosh he’s great at talking. He is a breath of fresh air in Philly, and really has provided the media with some earth shattering quotes in the past month or so. Tortorella continues to be wildly accepted in Philadelphia, and I think it’s due to Philly being a hard-working city.
The Flyers have been bottom feeders in the league for the past two years. One had to believe that a no non-sense coach was in the cards in the distant future. This current Flyers team needs a sense of direction and guidance, as they really had an embarrassing campaign this past season of historic proportions in a bad way.
Flyers only bright spot IS Tortorella. This team is dull and hard to watch. I can’t imagine fighting traffic, paying $25-$40 to park, and a few hundred bucks for lower level seats. Throw in $100 or so for food/drink and the fact you may be looking through the net to watch a bad team and we’ll…….
Torts is just a mascot for the Flyers fans that hate Gritty. Same garbage on the ice. But he says and does funny things when the game is over. Flyers are on a 10-game losing streak and people talk about Torts like he is Vince Lombardi.
